Looking Back at 2017
and Forward to 2018
2017 Accomplishments
As 2017 draws to a close, we hope you and other family members were able to find comfort through the many grief and healing programs COPE offered:

  • COPE Line and peer mentor support, provided daily by COPE parent volunteers for those calling with an immediate need for support.

  • Twelve FREE grief support groups professionally facilitated by bereavement experts with locations throughout Long Island.

  • FREE monthly healing workshops promoting wellness for those living with the loss of a loved one.

  • Our sixth annual Camp Erin® NYC, a FREE weekend bereavement camp for 63 grieving children with a concurrent parent retreat, staffed by grief professionals and 70 volunteers.

  • Opportunities for families to interact at the COPE Walk, labyrinth, worldwide candle lighting and other events.
Growing COPE In 2018
As we begin 2018, COPE will be moving to the historic Cedarmere estate overlooking the harbor in Roslyn. Our new home will be a beautiful, more affordable, and larger space, housing our office, additional groups, workshops and healing events. Sharing space with other nonprofits will provide COPE a larger collaborative network.
COPE will be welcoming our new full-time clinical director, Michelle Graff, LMSW, to expand clinical services and programming.  She, along with our administrative director Lynda Rice, will bring a strong base of support to the COPE community.
2018 Goals
  • Connect bereaved parents, siblings, teens, and children to the many services and programs of COPE.

  • Expand our outreach to new locations across Long Island, including the North Shore communities and Queens.

  • Strengthen our youth services by expanding participation in Camp Erin® NYC and offering other supportive programs for children.

  • Network with community partners to reach grieving teens in underserved communities and provide integrative healing programs.

  • Engage more families in workshops to promote healing and mutual support.

  • Provide resources for grieving families through our website, newsletters and other publications.
