Over the River and Through the Woods, written by Joe DiPietro, is the story of Nick, a single, Italian-American guy from New Jersey whose parents have retired and moved to Florida. That doesn't mean his family isn't still in Jersey. In fact, he sees both sets of his grandparents every Sunday for dinner. On one particular Sunday, Nick has to tell his grandparents that he's been offered his dream job -in Seattle. The news doesn't sit so well with his beloved, but annoying grandparents, and thus begins a series of schemes to keep Nick around. READ MORE |

Congratulations Mudslingers!
from Executive Director Paul Berg
Each year, the Center develops an annual budget. Part of our process includes looking at historical data and trying to project what the income will be for the next year.
I am proud to say that as of today, our pottery sales have exceeded our annual budget projections by 39%!
Congratulations everyone! |

Musicians inspiring Musicians
Last month, we were happy to host a concert with blues artist Beautiful Bobby Blackmon. After the show, we asked audience members for their feedback. Below an email exchange between one of our patrons and Bobby. Perhaps his show influenced another budding musician the same way Bobby was inspired years ago. Enjoy!
Emailed to the Carrollwood Cultural Center:
Hi. Thanks for the opportunity to share my thoughts with you about our recent visit. I brought my son who plays blues guitar to see Bobby Blackmon....a HUGE SUCCESS. Lots of brownie points for Mom on this one! Bobby Blackmon was awesome, his band terrific....the acoustics perfect. Everything about the evening was great. I'm still tapping my feet to the rhythm! Wonderful performance!
Thanks again,
Karen and Chris Lewis
Bobby's response after the Center shared the feedback:
Thanks for forwarding that message; that made my day..wow. I remember when my Mom and Dad took me out to shows long before I picked up a guitar and it certainly influenced me by seeing live entertainers. All the best to you and your wonderful staff with future shows.
Beautiful Bobby Blackmon
Special thanks to the Lewis family and Beautiful Bobby Blackmon for giving us permission to share this story!
