LORD MEHER

Avatar Meher Baba

In Lord Meher, the voluminous biography of Meher Baba compiled by Bhau Kalchuri, we read:

On 3 January 1923, Baba called all the mandali to his upstairs room and said, "Somehow let us manage to spare an hour or two every evening to discuss domestic matters of the Manzil, and then to devote some time to recreation." All agreed to this, and a few rules were laid down for the nightly meeting. After a long discussion, this meeting was dubbed the Gutta -- meaning the Wineshop.

[Lord Meher online , p. 375 ]

In recent years, Meherabode member Fred Stankus has adopted this slice of Meher Baba history to the Los Angeles community of Baba-lovers by periodically convening a Gutta (convivial Wineshop) centered around group readings from the text of Lord Meher, augmented with refreshing (non-alcoholic) food & beverages.

Lord Meher is packed full of many unknown nuggets of anecdote from the life and times of Meher Baba. You never know what curious tale will fetch up in these ongoing group dives into the oceanic text.

Come enjoy the convivial exploration this Sunday, hosted by Fred & friends.
