Job Description: 

The eDiscovery Project Manager is responsible for managing multiple litigation projects through the electronic discovery lifecycle. The incumbent will work with case teams on all aspects of the electronic discovery process, including identification, preservation, collection, processing, analysis, review, and production of electronically stored information (ESI). 

 

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Work with case teams to plan electronic discovery projects including identification, preservation, collection, processing, analysis, review, and production of ESI.
  • Oversee each project and ensure quality and success through actions and adherence to best practices and established processes.
  • Consult with case teams regarding best practices for document management, electronic discovery and electronic evidence management workflow.
  • Prepare recommendations, budgets, and project plans for discovery.
  • Communicate with case teams on discovery management issues, such as budget status, collection, review and production planning.
  • Report regularly to case teams and management on discovery project status.
  • Work with department management to identify and implement process, reporting, and documentation enhancements to improve service quality and customer satisfaction.  Such enhancements may include new tracking systems and databases, new reporting templates and revised workflows.
  • Assist lawyers with Rule 26(f) conferences and with meet and confer conferences in other venues.
  • Conduct client IT interviews and custodian interviews and make recommendations on appropriate collection protocols. 
  • Track and analyze incoming client ESI.
  • Advise and recommend on eDiscovery vendor selection and coordinate vendor contact and relations.
  • Initiate, plan, oversee and coordinate vendor work.
  • Maintain detailed familiarity with vendor platforms and provide support to case teams utilizing those platforms.
  • Maintain deep, broad and current knowledge of emerging products and technological solutions for information retrieval and archiving, including of techniques associates with computer assisted review (CAR). 
  • Design and implement document review projects and ensure quality control and management of information retrieval, review and document production activities. 
  • Enter and update project details in the appropriate case and task management databases as well as record required time entries in the billing software.
  • Assist department management with completion of IS projects.
  • Contribute to departmental publications, presentations, education and documentation.

 

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree required. eDiscovery experience required. Project management or business analysis certification helpful.  Juris Doctor and/or litigation practice experience helpful.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience with managing electronic discovery projects.
  • Thorough knowledge of software used in the electronic discovery process. Specific experience with Relativity, Clearwell, Viewpoint and Equivio helpful.
  • Ability to access, input, analyze, and retrieve information from various computer applications and to learn and utilize new applications on an expedited basis.
  • Thorough knowledge of the electronic discovery process, including evolving standards created through case law, rulemaking, and groups such as EDRM and The Sedona Conference.
  • Detailed knowledge of and experience with litigation and related discovery activities.
  • Highly developed organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Able to handle multiple projects and priorities simultaneously with a high degree of accuracy, professionalism and client-service orientation.
  • Thorough, detailed knowledge of software utilized for information retrieval and archiving in the eDiscovery context; deep, broad, and current knowledge of emerging products and technological solutions.
  • Excellent interpersonal and strong leadership skills.
  • Possess superb written and verbal communication skills to enable effective and professional communication with clients, colleagues, and vendors.
  • Excellent decision-making, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Able to manage time and resources to meet or exceed established service level agreements.
  • Possess a commitment to deliver the highest quality service to internal and external customers.
