The Neighborhood Time Exchange: West Philadelphia Artist Residency aims to combine artistic endeavors and community outreach. The artists are given 15 hours of free studio space, a monthly stipend, and basic tools and supplies. In exchange, they spend 15 hours using their time and skills working on civic projects identified by residents and community-based organizations.

Volunteer to Cook for Seniors

Do you like to cook? Are you looking for a new activity? Find out about Cook for a Friend! Our Cook for a Friend program is made up of more than 500 volunteers who prepare, cook, and package meals for homebound seniors age 60 and over. Free After-School Youth Program with Neighborhood Bike Works
WHERE: 3509 Spring Garden St; Dornsife Center
WHEN: Every Mon & Wed 4-6pm, March 23 - June 1
Youth ages 12-18 enrolled in Freedom to Ride have the opportunity to "earn" a bike while learning basic bike mechanics and safe urban riding skills. The course runs for 10 weeks in the spring; during the first few weeks the youth participants pick out a bike and receive lessons to repeair that bike. In the final weeks the youth ride their newly refurbished bikes as a group, exploring area greenspaces. Upon completion, youth are awarded with a graduation certificate, a lock, a helmet and the bike they earned. Energy (and Money) Saver Workshop
WHEN: March 26th, 7-8pm

We will teach people how to save money by saving energy in their homes. Our trainers will demonstrate how to install self-help energy saving materials and will provide these materials free of charge to each household that attends. We'll share information about rebates, tax credits and new programs, and provide referrals to existing energy conservation and assistance programs if needed. We will also be giving people written literature and printed brochures on energy saving techniques they can use in their homes. Bring an empty bag! Town Hall on Gender Justice & Mass Incarceration
