Teacher Training Spotlight: Megan Bettis

When did you begin practicing yoga?
I dabbled in yoga classes throughout my ballet training, but didn't find a consistent and rewarding practice until I moved to Dallas in 2011.

What do you enjoy most about practicing yoga?
The entire world melts away. I'm completely focused on the task at hand, and once class is over everything seems brighter and problems are more manageable. It's improved my dancing as well. I'm stronger, more flexible than ever, and feel more controlled.

What is your favorite pose?
Eka Pada Rajakapotasana (One-legged King Pigeon Pose). It's an intense hip opener and stretches my chest, shoulders, and back. I also feel super fancy when my body is up to expressing the full pose.

Which pose do you find most challenging?

Utkatasana (Chair Pose). I hate it. My quads are on fire and I never seem to sit as far as I'd like. Actually, any pose held for terribly long is difficult for me. Dancers and stillness are not pals.

What led you to begin teacher training?

I've been teaching ballet for almost 10 years, so when I began practicing yoga frequently it seemed like the natural thing to do. I'm super nerdy about movement, the human body, health, and enjoy sharing knowledge about the things I'm passionate about with others.

Class Time Change

Beginning June 24, Saturday's Explore the Body class will take place from 8:30-9:30am. Explore the Body is a great way to get to know your own body and find peace of mind by deeply exploring your energy system using ball work, postures, and free movement.
