Rose Quartz-The Stone of Love, Romance & Friendship
Rose quartz is a pink variety of quartz crystal. Rose quartz is the stone of unconditional love that opens the heart chakra, or heart energy center to all forms of love: self-love, family love, friendship, and romantic love. With the everyday world always seeming to creep up on us, it is important to remember more than ever to quiet the mind a couple times a day. Many of us meditate regularly but many of us still don't use this simple technique to help us cope with stress.
A couple of years ago I attended a seminar given by a man named Jeff Skorman who teaches the principals of Ayurveda, a system of traditional medicine native to India. He was trained at the prestigious Chopra Center. Jeff was teaching some very basic meditation techniques known as primordial sound meditation that I have been practicing ever since. And I mean practicing. Like anything else, meditation takes practice. In today's world, with all that is going on in each of our lives, meditation can be one of the most challenging fundamentals we as human beings can learn. Like learning to walk as a child, we must get up and apply what we have already learned and move forward until we have truly grasped the concept. To completely quiet the mind can take years of applying this practice but you have to start somewhere.
Jeff taught a simple technique using the words "SO" and "HUM" along with the breath. He gave out a sheet of meditation exercises that I still have today. While taking deep breaths in to your body, you quietly think the word "SO", and while taking the next breath out you quietly say to yourself, "HUM". Where this beginners practice originated, "SO" and "HUM" are words with no meaning and believe it or not are very effective distractions while you say them in your mind.
A friend of mine has been practicing a similar technique for many years that he calls following the breath. The concept is so simple; it's applying it regularly and maintaining a practice of these techniques that eventually begin to become a part of your day. Here is the West, meditation is not regularly taught from a young age. In many parts of the world it is taught as regularly to the young as we are taught to use a fork and knife. So we must practice, practice, practice. To find the time, to take the time. We learn our native language as we grow up and it becomes second nature. But for most of us, learning a new language as an adult takes a lot of time and study. Learning to meditate is similar in nature.
At Crystal Fantasy in Palm Springs, Jeff Skorman teaches classes on meditation, relaxation and breathing techniques during many of the Wellness Weekends that are held the third weekend of each month, along with an entire weekend of healers, spiritual counselors and classes. This month, Wellness Weekend at Crystal Fantasy is February 18th and 19th . Please check in advance for class times. The classes are free and I can personally tell you that the techniques I learned that day a couple of years ago gave me a tool that I use and "practice" regularly. "I'm slowly getting there" and you can too.

Prosperity Prayer

Dear God -
I surrender my financial affairs and concerns about money to your Divine care and love.
I ask that you remove my worries, anxieties and fears about money, and replace them with faith.
I know and trust that my debts will be paid and money will flow into my life.
I have only to look to nature to see proof of the abundance you provide.
I release all negative thoughts about money, and know that prosperity is my true state.
I commit to being grateful for all that I now have in my life.
I learn to manage my finances wisely, seeking help where needed.
And finally, I ask you to help me understand my purpose in life and to act on that purpose with courage and strength.
I know that prosperity will come, in part, by doing work I love.
Please help me use my skills and knowledge to be of service in the world.
