This Summer: Worship the Lord in the Beauty of Holiness
A Message from Rev. Shirley

Worshipping God together is a beautiful thing always (1 Chronicles 16:29b).  Meaningful worship is attentive to the rhythms of life, and summer is one of those rhythms, or seasons, when patterns change for a great many people.  With the advice of vestry, we shall be offering two worship services on the weekends instead of three for the months of July and August and Labor Day weekend: Saturday 5 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m.  We will provide Children’s Chapel every Sunday at the 10 a.m. service.  This change will reduce the demand on our volunteers.  (About 25-30 volunteers are needed to support worship and children’s ministry each weekend in addition to musicians and choir members.)  This summer pattern also gives us the opportunity to meet people who may be new to us and make meaningful connections with others at Christ Church.

Then, come September 11, we will kick off the “new year” in a big way, restoring our pattern of three services and celebrating CCE’s birthday with our Bluegrass and BBQ party. If you are one of our dedicated worship volunteers, you may be wondering how this will work(!).  We will send you information next week. As always, feel free to call the church office with any questions or input you may have. Communication is always an opportunity for God’s grace.

Annual Concert:
Love Reaches

Saturday, May 14, 5:00 PM

Come journey with us as we explore the beautiful and inspiring landscape of ever-reaching Love through music that spans across the ages. From timeless classic choral works by Palestrina and Vaughan Williams to contemporary praise songs by Steven Curtis Chapman and Kari Jobe, the multi-generational choirs of Christ Church unfold the ultimate Story of Love. This true story is about the craving of every human heart, and the reaching of Heaven to earth.  It is a story about how love changes us, and the spread of love to every person on earth. Please invite your friends & neighbors!

Food & Funds Drive for FeedMore Starts Next Weekend
Hunger lives closer than you think. FeedMore provides our region’s most vulnerable populations – children, families and seniors – with one of the most basic necessities: nourishment. Beginning next Sunday, May 15 through June 5 will be collecting food and funds for FeedMore. Bring your food items (click here for a list of most needed items) to church, give online, or place your checks payable to FeedMore in the offering basket. Please consider giving.

Updates from Garage Student Ministry
No youth group this Sunday -- happy mother's day!
Mission Moment

Late last year, we received information and a request for support from Matthew Armentrout, currently a third year student at the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis.  Matthew and his family are among the earliest members of CCE and Matthew "grew up" with CCE.  Now studying Optometry, Matthew is chairman of the school's "Student Volunteers in Optometric Service to Humanity" (SVOSH).

Each year, the students collect used eyeglasses which are then refitted to bless those in need through mission trips. The trips help the students practice what they are learning in school, while providing a great and needed service to people in Central and South America.

Matthew and his team will be traveling to Izamal, Mexico May 8-15.  The CCE Missions and Outreach Ministry voted to help support the cost of Matthew's trip, for which he is extremely grateful (each student is responsible to raise funds for their trip).  He's asked for our prayers and will send a report on the trip upon his return.

"Part Two" of this story is to inform the congregation that M&O will be collecting used eyeglasses this fall, which will be sent to the school for next year's trip.  More information will be forthcoming, but in the meantime, please begin to dig out those no longer being used eyeglasses to donate to someone in need.

Through this support, CCE is helping to provide a most amazing gift--the gift of sight!
