Question: What is the preference for installing an exterior door - outswing or inswing?

Mike's Reply: Thank you for your question. It is most popular for exterior doors to swing inwards. However, there are a number of reasons to install an outswing exterior door. First, the door has a bottom threshold with a sweep gasket to seal out drafts and water. With an outswing door, the threshold stop creates a better seal for wind and water. Plus, an outswing door is easier to open and close. When inswing doors are replaced, these often have problems with rotted sub-flooring or popping tile. Many people are concerned with installing outswing doors since the hinge pins are exposed to the outside. Doors today are equipped with security features such as tabs or studs integrated in the hinge which will resist extrication without using a special tool. Further, outswing doors are virtually impossible to kick in.

Majors Helps with United Way
Majors Home Improvement, in partnership with United Way of Santa Rosa County , is seeking a family in need of critical home repair projects.
Majors is launching its third annual community initiative, Majors Helps, by inviting residents to advocate on behalf of others with story submittals about families in need. Qualified projects include repairing or replacing windows, doors, hurricane shutters, or vinyl siding. To advocate for a family, residents are urged to fill out an entry form by February 12, 2016 here.
United Way SR will select an independent committee of community minded citizens to review submittals and select a final winner on February 29, 2016. The community is invited to follow the project's transformation on our Faceook page.
Majors Home Improvement is dedicated to giving back to our community. Majors participated in WEAR TV 3's Oprah's Big Give: Gulf Coast, by supporting families who are involved with United Cerebral Palsy and ARC Gateway. "We look forward to this year's new project, and helping to make a positive impact in our community," states Mike Majors, President of Majors Home Improvement.
"The opportunity to partner with a premier company like Majors, and also help a Santa Rosa family each year is extraordinary," says Debra Baez, Operations & Campaign Director at United Way SR.
