Parents and Guardians,

I hope you and your student had an enjoyable Spring Break, and are refreshed as we head into the last quarter of the school year. Spring Break included lots of fun activities for the Mayfield household, but it also reminded me how quickly we are approaching the end of the school year.

There are many events scheduled over the next ten weeks, and it will be a busy and fast-moving time for all our students. Please make sure to review the information below to ensure you have all the details you need.

Sincerely ,

Chris Mayfield
Principal

LHS Baseball - Spring Break
The JV Red team played 4 District games over Spring Break going 2-2. The team was swept by Highland Park, and then bounced back to beat Royse City in 2 games.

The JV Black continued their good play, finishing 2nd in the Denton JV Tournament, and then splitting with Highland Park last week.

The Varsity Baseball team has opened District play with a 1-1 Record. The team was beat pretty soundly at Highland Park on Tuesday but then bounced back with a very big win over Highland Park on Friday night. The final score was 3-2. Jacob Terwilliger threw an outstanding game, and the team pulled out a win in the 8th inning on a Sac Bunt 2 base error committed by Highland Park. Matt Almy laid the bunt down, and the HP 3rd baseman tried to make a play at 3rd, and threw the ball down the left field line, resulting in two  Leopards scoring for the win.

The Varsity continues district play this week vs. West Mesquite on Tuesday at Home at 7:30, and at West Mesquite Friday at 4:00.

Just before Spring Break, the Red Ledger also was named one of 38 finalists for the Pacemaker award from the National Scholastic Press Association. The winners will be announced at the NSPA National Convention in Seattle next month.
