Fall Volunteer Training Scheduled

Geared for Adults and 4-H Youth who want to make their club thrive and be appealing to new audiences. WHEN: Sunday - October 29th at 4:00 pm PLACE: Multi-Media Room - County Annex, Madison

Awards and Recognition Banquet

All 4-H families are welcome come to celebrate membership and achievement of LqP 4-H members on Thursday, October 5, 7:00 pm in the Multi Media Room.

Who: Youth in Grades 7th and above; 
When: Saturday - October 7th at 5:02 pm;  Where: Extension Office, Madison

Club Officer Training

Adults and youth are needed for Projects Unlimited, Building Maintenance, and Foodstand Committees; Afterschool Cloverbuds and Spectacular Science; as well as Project Bowl Coaches or Project Leaders. Please let MaryAnn know your interest in volunteering by November 15th.

National 4-H Week

National 4-H week is October 1-7. This is a great time to celebrate 4-H and share your enthusiasm for the program.

More 4-H news this month
All youth in Grades 3-6 are invited to participate in Spectacular Science adventures held monthly in Dawson (Tuesdays) & Madison (Thursdays). Flyers will come home from school.
ALL youth in Grades K-2 are invited to participate in Cloverbuds starting this fall in Dawson & Madison schools. Watch for flyers to come home from school!
Youth in Grades 9+ are encouraged to apply to be a youth committee member for a State Fair show. Applications are available online - due by September 15th.
Associate dean and state 4-H director Dorothy Freeman encourages members to help new youth and families get connected. In 4-H, youth build the skills they need to lead. Who can you share 4-H with this month?
Consider nominating an outstanding volunteer for a 2018 4-H Salute to Excellence Award. This National 4-H recognition award honors volunteers who demonstrate exemplary service to 4-H, while promoting service through volunteerism as both an opportunity and a privilege. All nomination materials are due by Sept. 15.
Applications are being accepted now through Sept. 15, 2017 for 2018 National 4-H Conference roundtable facilitators. The 2018 National 4-H Conference which will be held in Washington, D.C. April 7-12, 2018. All college students with a desire to participate in this leadership experience are encouraged to apply!
Beginning this fall, 4-H volunteer enrollment will last for three years! Watch for a message from your regional office in early September about next steps. Re-enrollment for the next term will take place Sept. 16 - Oct. 31.
The Minnesota 4-H Shooting Sports & Wildlife program development committee invites adults and youth (9th grade and older) to attend a leader certification training Oct. 7 - 8 in Alexandria. Be prepared for the new 4-H year with trained volunteers - register by Sept. 22!
Minnesota 4-H youth are encouraged to apply by Nov. 10 for the National 4-H Conference to be held in Washington D.C. April 7 - 12, 2018. You must be 15 years old by Jan. 1 and not older than 19 by June 1 (in the year of conference attendance).
Minnesota 4-H youth interested in joining thousands of young people from across the United States at next summer's CWF in Washington D.C. should plan ahead. Pre-application materials will be online Jan. 23, 2018 - mark your calendars so you don't forget!
