SPRINGTIME IS HERE
With Sunshine and Birdsong
The sky is blue, the weather is warming, and winter's damage stands revealed. In the last big storm of February (the one that almost took out the Oroville Dam, for all you weather-freaks), we endured extremely high winds here and a huge Redwood tree limb tore down through our driveway area, took out an entire trellis, and smacked right into our garden railroad train trestle. We were lucky - trees went down all over Northern California, roads were closed due to downed trees and flooding, the power went out as well, and just a few miles from us, a family lost half their house when a Douglas Fir tree tore loose and smashed into the building. Luckily no one was hurt, and repair work is underway all across the state. We send our best thoughts to all and hope to have our repairs all made within the next month or two, in time for the 10th Annual HOODOO HERITAGE FESTIVAL.

Missionary Independent Spiritual Church is sponsoring our annual
Hoodoo Heritage Festival in Forestville, California.This is a rare opportunity to learn conjure and rootwork first-hand from accomplished professionals. Our workshops are not merely lectures - you will actually make and do the work alongside your instructors. There is no better way, short of having a family member teach you, to learn authentic methods of African American folk magic.
Join presenters and special guests for classes, hands-on workshops, and panel discussions in African-American folk magic, rootwork, and hoodoo. You will receive printed instructions, (including four full-length stand-alone books), spiritual supplies, and ingredients to perform your own spell-work. These classes will teach you practical tricks and tips to take your conjure work to a new level of confidence and knowledge.
In addition to spell-casting, the mystery and magic of worldwide folk religions will be showcased. as we present two rites that will introduce you to the spiritual traditions of Neo-Paganism and Espiritismo Cruzado.

Hoodoo Heritage Festival is fast approaching, and now is the time to book with your favourite reader and your preferred time. This year
Hoodoo Psychics is sponsoring the Reader's Tent again, and they've got a wonderful lineup of skilled diviners, each a master of their given medium. Give them a look over and see who speaks to you. Vacancies are filling up swiftly, and it's a first-come, first-served basis!

The Association of Independent Readers and Rootworkers (AIRR)
and other professionals will be on-site during the Apprenticeship Week and Workshop Weekend and will be offering readings. Take advantage of some great discount prices for attendees only, and the opportunity to get an in-person reading with someone you might not otherwise have a chance to meet. All daytime readings are scheduled at 20 minutes each, to allow time for you and your reader to leave the workshops and return to them. For Graduates of Miss Cat's Course:
Free Apprenticeship Week
May 8th-12th, 2017

The Hoodoo and Conjure Apprenticeship Program, taught by catherine yronwode, is a free three-week series of lectures, personal training, and hands-on guidance in the history and use of conjure supplies available to graduates of the Hoodoo Rootwork Correspondence Course.
There are three lecture classes during each week, taught by cat, and two work-days during each week, supervised by the Lucky Mojo Shop Manager, Heidi Simpson.
Each year, during the week preceding the May Hoodoo Workshops sponsored by Missionary Independent Spiritual Church, we hold a week of Apprenticeship training, and the curriculum of that week rotates throughout the three-week cycle, so that within three years a graduate can take all three weeks of Apprenticeship training and earn an Apprenticeship certificate. This year we will be working through the third week of the training program.

Monday: Bath Crystals Lecture; Making Bath Crystals
Tuesday: Making and Praying Over Bath Crystals
Wednesday: Sachets Lecture; Making Sachets

Apprentices are responsible for their own room and board, but will be treated to two free meals during the week -- a potluck catered by the Lucky Mojo shop staff and a catered evening sit-down dinner for all apprentices and shop staff.

Hoodoo Rootwork Correspondence Course

Apprentices are required to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement with catherine yronwode, the teacher.
