October 2014

Lovely fall weather on October 25 contributed to the "best ever" Leaf for Lupus event. Pictured above, Chad Olson gently tosses son Cason into the giant piles of leaves. Please take a moment to read the complete story published yesterday in the Hastings Star Gazette.

Saying goodbye to a superhero
Some people think superheroes are just fiction, the result of creative minds and overactive imaginations. But those who knew and loved Dominic (Nick) Postiglione had irrevocable proof that superheroes were fact, and not fiction. To those believers, and that includes us here at the Lupus Foundation of Minnesota (LFM), Nick was Superman.

Nick was a partner at the Source Comics & Games store and was one of three driving forces (along with Brian Wilson and Pat McDonough) behind the creation of the Midwest Comic Book Association (MCBA), which now hosts two annual conventions; FallCon and SpringCon. LFM has been a charity partner of the event since 2002. Since that time, over $30,000 has been contributed to the organization through fundraising activities either held at the Source, or through the MCBA.

This year, just a few months shy of the 2014 FallCon, Nick Postiglione passed away suddenly from cardiac arrest at the age of 52.

LFM seeks a slice of "nice" on Give to the Max Day - November 13
"Minnesota Nice" doesn't get any nicer than the state's annual "Give to the Max Day."

Happening on Thursday, November 13 this year, the Lupus Foundation of Minnesota (LFM) asks that you send some "nice" our way with a donation via during this annual day of giving. Simply visit LFM's page on the GiveMN site to make a contribution on Give to the Max Day itself.

If you're one to plan ahead, beginning on Saturday, November 1, donors may "schedule" their donations in advance. If you schedule a gift, your donation will automatically be deducted from your credit or debit card on November 13.

Currently, LFM is accepting applications for 2015 clinical research projects. A limited number of grants are available and the application deadline is 8 a.m. on Thursday, November 6.

More details and complete applications are available on the LFM website.
