Luther College senior Katrina Okerstrom from Decorah, Iowa, was awarded a $30,000 graduate fellowship from the R.J. McElroy Trust. Okerstrom, daughter of Julia Thomas of Decorah, and Lee Okerstrom of Oak Grove, Minn., will pursue a Ph.D. in neuroscience at the University of Iowa. She is majoring in psychology and biology, and minoring in classics at Luther. Okerstrom is a 2010 graduate of Spring Lake Park High School in Spring Lake Park, Minn. Read more... 

 

 
 

Professor of law and former U.S. Rep. Jim Leach will present the lecture, "The Importance of Inspiration: Leaders who Made a Difference," at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 8, in Room 206 of the Valders Hall of Science at Luther College.There is a sense among many Americans that relations with each other and the rest of the world have suffered lately. In his lecture, Leach will note weaknesses within modern American politics and contrast models of public conduct between current times and challenging moments in America's history. Read more... 

 
 
The classic silent film "The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari" will spring to life with a newly composed musical score by students at Luther College. Directed by Brooke Joyce, Luther composer-in-residence and Steve Smith, Luther composition instructor, the original film will be shown with an electro-acoustic score at 9 p.m. Monday, April 28, in the Recital Hall of the Center for Faith and Life on the Luther campus.

"Highway 57," an original dance work by Blake Nellis, Luther College alumnus and visiting teaching associate in dance, will be performed May 2-3 and 8-10 in the Jewel Theatre in the Center for the Arts on the Luther campus. The music for "Highway 57" was composed by Luther alumni Ted Moore, Justin Nellis and Jon Ailabouni, also Luther adjunct faculty in music. Performing live are Ailabouni, John Griesheimer, Luther student; Luther first-years, Jared Oelke and Trevor Brandt; and Luther sophomore, Patrick Pauloski.  Read more...
