This Weekend at Hope:  The Summer of Acts | When in Rome | Acts 28:1-6
Good morning, Hope!
Tons to tell you about today ... let's get right to it!
Parenting is one of the most rewarding, and important, jobs any of us could ever take on. But it's not easy! To make things even more challenging, our kids are growing up in a world dominated by divisiveness, disrespect and distraction ... amplified by our culture's addiction to social media. As a result, too many children struggle with anxiety, develop dangerous habits and drift away from faith. As a church, we're unapologetically competing for the hearts of kids in this community, but we know that starts at home. To help, we're offering our first annual one-day Hope Parenting Conference, from 10:00 am - 5:00 pm on Saturday, Aug. 19, featuring Dr. Joshua Straub, a talk from me about the best parenting lessonsI've learned in 27 years as a dad, and breakout sessions that speak to the breadth of challenges facing today's parents. Sign up today!
To supplement the important work of Christian parents at home, we're getting ready to kick-off a new school year of outstanding Youth & Family ministries for children, teens and young adults. HopeKids provides Christian education for kids from age 3 - grade 5. PowerLife is Hope's wildly popular junior high confirmation ministry for grades 6-8. Ignition offers high school students (grades 9-12) a vibrant and relevant way to connect with God and friends at church. Kairos is Hope's brand new Wednesday night service for college students in Ames, starting Aug. 23. REVIVE includes a weekly worship experience for young adults every Thursday night in the Chapel at Hope, plus lots of connecting points throughout the week. For more info on any of these ministries, click the above links, or contact a ministry leader from our staff directory page.
+ Group Launch
Our annual theme this year is To (Be) Know(n), tapping into the need we all have for authentic community. Thousands of Hope folks are already involved in Life Groups that meet on a regular basis to hang out, connect, grow and serve together. Within these groups, deep bonds are made as we discover the joy of doing life together with sisters and brothers in Christ ... and suddenly this big church feels very small! You can easily jump into a new Life Group by attending our next Group Launch ... Tuesday nights at Hope from 6:30-8:00 pm, Aug. 22 - Oct. 31. Everything is provided, including the group discussion guide based on our much-anticipated upcoming sermon series, Here I Stand: a 10-Week Confirmation Refresher (to coincide with the 500 th Anniversary of the Reformation)!   Click here to register! For questions, email Groups Coordinator
Got questions about life, God or the Christian faith? Looking for a spiritual spark? Or, are you new to Christianity, and ready to explore? If you answered "yes" to any of these questions, then the Alpha Course  is for you - a 10-week exploration of the Christian faith, written by a former atheist and taken by tens of millions of people worldwide (including thousands at Hope)! Alpha meets Sunday nights from 6:00-8:15 pm, Sept. 10 - Nov. 12 OR Wednesdays during the day, 11:30 am - 1:30 pm, Sept. 13 - Nov. 15. Registration for these and other classes this fall, open this weekend here. For questions, email Alpha Coordinator .
There's more, but I'm out of room. As always, please browse through the links below to get involved and activate your faith in Jesus! See you at Hope!
