THIS WEEKEND AT HOPE:
Fire Up! (Holy Spirit)
"High Production Christianity!"
Galatians 5:22-26

Good morning, Hope!

I shouldn't be surprised. For the past three weekends (with one more to go), we've focused our attention as a church on the Holy Spirit with a sermon series called Fire Up!  And sure enough, right on cue, when we make room for God, God shows up! The Holy Spirit has been thick all throughout Hope during this time of revival, resulting in the stirring of our faith (new and renewed), physical healings and reconciled relationships!

Last weekend, at the end of the sermon, a massive crowd came forward for the Lord's Supper (which is typical for Communion Weekend), but then something rather atypical happened ... a huge part of that massive crowd took a few extra steps of faith and walked up the steps to meet with a prayer leader, asking to be filled with the Holy Spirit and to experience the power of God's love (Romans 5:5, Ephesians 3:14-19). It was overwhelming to see! Even though over 50 prayer stations were open, people waited 4 or 5-deep at times for prayer (it really was like the checkout area at Costco on a Saturday afternoon!). Next time, we'll open up even more prayer stations!

On Tuesday night, I taught Page 2, and the Spirit continued to fill our hearts and minds with the life-changing power of God's love!

Wednesday night at Hope was our Student Summer Kick-Off, and a massive crowd of middle school and high school students gathered at church to connect with each other in God's house! Definitely a Spirit-filled night!

Last night (Thursday) included a large gathering of some of the most amazing young adults in central Iowa for inspired (Holy Spirit work) worship at  REVIVE (every Thursday at 7:00 pm) ... and, before that, life-changing (another Spirit thing) ministries for adults ( Celebrate Recovery ) and students ( The Landing ) in recovery from bad habits, hurts or hang-ups.

And now, we look forward to a weekend of worship, and more specifically drawing our attention to the fruit of the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). Come and see what God can do through you ... for his glory & the expansion of his eternal Kingdom!

PS- Friendly reminder that we will be celebrating Father's Day in style this year at Hope with a Traveling Classic Car Show from 4:00-7:00 pm in West Des Moines (traveling to three other Hope campuses at different times throughout the day, too) which leads into our come-as-you-are Saturday (Father's Day Eve) 5:00 pm service on June 15 at Hope. Someone from our church family asked if I might want to drive his classic T-Bird from one Hope campus to another that day? I'm a little embarrassed about how quickly I said, "Yes!" And, this is just one of many fun dad-friendly activities Men's Pastor Andy is planning for that day. Don't miss it!
