Lycée Louis Pasteur's English Language Arts students are bookworms. Throughout the school year, students in Grades 2-12 will read and study several novels (pictured above), ranging from classics such as Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet to graphic novels like El Deafo and Maus .

"Novel studies are an integral part of Alberta's ELA curriculum " explains Ms. Joya Brooks, Director of English Programming, "They provide opportunities for students and teachers to dig deeper into historical issues, provoke thematic discussions about literary works, and encourage critical thinking. For our younger readers, novel studies also demonstrate narrative structure and strengthens their understanding of a story and it's message".
