Office of the State Treasurer Raises Money for Houston
Mississippians remember how the nation rallied to our aid twelve years ago when Hurricane Katrina hit our shores. And, I was so proud of my staff when they did the same for the victims of Hurricane Harvey. Together, we raised over $1000 in a four-day penny war in the office and will be sending the funds to the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund.

You can learn more about the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund here . If you wish to donate as well, click here .

In addition, Representative Carol Alvarado, a fellow Women in Government honoree, has established an Amazon wish list . She is collecting and distributing non-perishable food, diapers, baby wipes, and water throughout her Houston district. You can purchase items from that list and Amazon will ship directly to her office for distribution.
Don’t forget 529 Day at the Mississippi Children’s Museum
This Saturday, we’ll be celebrating September as National College Savings Month at the Mississippi Children’s Museum. We’ll have special activities from 10 am to 2 pm on financial literacy and the importance of saving for college. College Savings staff will be on hand to help you open up your MACS or MPACT account. We’ll even be giving away two $529 MACS scholarships, at 11 am and 1 pm. Admission all day will be only $5.29, too!
New MPACT season has begun

September 1 st marked the first day of the new MPACT season. MPACT, or Mississippi Prepaid Affordable College Tuition program, is one of two ways College Saving Mississippi makes higher education more affordable for all Mississippians. This program protects against the future rise in college tuition and has a variety of payment plans to fit your budget needs.
