This is the official notice of the Annual Business Meeting of the Michigan Association of Broadcasters.

The General Assembly of the members will be held:

Date:  August 14, 2018
Time: 10:00 a.m.
Place: The Grand Pavilion Room at the Grand Hotel, Mackinac Island, Mich.

There is no charge for MAB members to attend this meeting.
EAS & AMBER ALERTS
It's Official - September 20 is the Next National EAS Test
As previously speculated, Thursday, September 20 at 2:20 p.m. Eastern will be the date and time for the next National EAS Test. This year's test will also include testing of WEA, the Wireless Emergency Alert System - so in addition to hearing (or conducting) a broadcast Emergency Alert System text, you'll likely also receive one on your smartphone.   Read More

Elections Bureau Recommends Approval of Minimum Wage, Paid Sick Time Proposals
The Department of State Bureau of Elections concluded that both the One Fair Wage proposal to increase the minimum wage and the MI Time to Care proposal to require employers to provide paid sick time had collected enough signatures to be passed to the Legislature.  Read More

Congress Considers 21-Day Requirement for FCC Proposals
The proposed FCC Transparency Act (H.R. 6422) would require the Commission to publish the texts of any proposed actions on its website at least 21-days ahead of a vote.  Read More

Moving FCC EEO Enforcement from the Media to the Enforcement Bureau
- What Does It Mean?

On July 24, The FCC adopted an order moving broadcast EEO enforcement from the FCC's Media Bureau to its Enforcement Bureau. The change will be effective later, after certain procedural approvals are obtained and after notice is published in the Federal Register.  Read More

WPHM Goes Hyper-Local for Boat Races and Festival
Liggett Communication's News-Talk-Sports WPHM-AM 1380 (Port Huron) once again provided start to finish coverage of the 94th annual Bell's Beer Bayview Mackinac Race. The annual sailboat race starts in Port Huron and ends at Mackinac Island and is organized by Detroit's Bayview Yacht Club.  Read More

WDIV-TV/ClickOnDetroit and the 13th Congressional District Democratic Party Organization will host a debate with candidates for U.S. House of Representatives for the 13th congressional district at 8 p.m. on August 2.  Read More

WCZY-FM Holds 'Hometown Showdown'
On July 23, WCZY-FM (Mt. Pleasant) held its 10th Annual "Hometown Showdown" at the Isabella County Fairgrounds.  Eleven contestants competed for two $500 cash prizes in the talent contest.  Read More
