Our Technology Travel Tips

If you're traveling over the holidays, check out our tips to make your technology stress-free while you're away:
  • Make sure you have a Passcode set on your iPhone/iPad - you never know when you'll leave your device on a plane!
  • Turn on 'Find My Phone' and 'Find My Mac' (if you're taking your laptop) to track the location of your device if you leave it somewhere.
  • Make sure your mobile devices are backed up (iCloud or iTunes) before you leave.
  • Shut down your home computers (power off, not sleep) if you're leaving home.
  • Know your Passwords - we recommend the 1Password app for this.
  • When possible, connect to WiFi in hotels or at your relatives' home.
  • If you're traveling internationally, make sure you understand your roaming and data options.  Stop in for a consult if you need help.
  • Download any movies from iTunes or Netflix before you leave home. Doing this in an airport will use your cellular data and take forever!
  • Keep your technology in plastic bags if you're near water or sand.
  • Use the Evernote app to coordinate all your reservations, helpful websites and general information about your trip.
Just a reminder that you can stop by MACnician for a hardware diagnosis or estimate at no charge.  .
