Confirm Gina Haspel
President Donald Trump has selected Gina Haspel as his choice to lead the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), following confirmation of former Director Mike Pompeo as Secretary of State. Haspel joined the CIA in 1985, has held senior positions around the world, and is highly respected within the Intelligence community. She is the first woman to rise from within the ranks to become Deputy Director - and will be the first woman to lead the agency. "The way I'd like to think about it is that Gina being the first female [director of the CIA] would be a footnote and not the headline. Gina is incredibly well-qualified and, simply put, is the best choice for the role when you look at her smarts, her experience, her integrity, her wisdom, her steady hand."
--CIA Veteran Jeanne Tsinger
