This year was a milestone anniversary for the San Francisco Interfaith Council. "Celebrating 25 Years of Faith-Based Collaboration: Together We Can Do More" was the theme of the November 25th 17th Annual Interfaith Thanksgiving Prayer Breakfast. Filling the Hotel Kabuki, the capacity crowd of faith leaders, public officials and supporters of the Council's important work was treated to a program that paid tribute to the Council's founders/chairs and highlighted its quarter century of accomplishments.
Special recognition was extended to philanthropists, George and Judy Marcus, for their ongoing support of the Council. Introducing the honoree and keynote speaker, SFIC Executive Director, Michael Pappas, noted George's deep philosophical conviction of the "power and possibility of religion to be a positive and formidable force to make the world a more peaceful and better place."
At the conclusion of his acceptance remarks, George announced that he and Judy were gifting $100,000 to the Rita R. Semel Endowment Fund for Interfaith Work of the San Francisco Interfaith Council.
