EDINBURGH INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL PRESENTS
"MAKE A MOVIE LIKE SPIKE" Press & Industry and Public Screenings.
DIRECTOR AND WRITER JAMIL WALKER SMITH WILL PARTICIPATE IN
Q&AS FOR BOTH PUBLIC SCREENINGS.
"'Make a Movie Like Spike" is a wonderful addition to the 65th Edinburgh International Film Festival programme, and we look forward to welcoming Director Jamil Walker Smith to town. As a film which is brimming with warmth and humanity, we have no doubt that audiences will be seduced by its charm and fall for the loveable nature of the protagonist."
- James Mullighan, EIFF Director
Luis and Ronald, two best friends from LA, film their last 36 hours before shipping off to Afghanistan. Luis wants to be a filmmaker and Ronald wants to travel the world and raise a family. With Luis' video camera, they capture their friends, family members and favourite places - to remember who they are and where they come from. In their darkest hour, they document the final moments of their journey home, and soon realise that their dreams and promises of a new life mean nothing in a place called War.
Following are the EIFF screening details for "Make A Movie Like Spike":
Tuesday 21 June 09:15 Filmhouse 2 (Press & Industry Screening)
Wednesday 22 June 18:00 Filmhouse 2 (Public Screening)
Thursday 23 June 15:45 Filmhouse 2 (Public Screening)
All screenings will be held at Filmhouse 2; 88 Lothian Road, Edinburgh, EH3 9BZ
Writer and Director Jamil Walker Smith in attendance at all 3 screenings and will participate in Q&As for both public screenings.
"A beautifully honest film that speaks to youth in their own language, this is a film that explores and gives insight into a world that people think they know, but really know nothing of. With a street level view of Los Angeles serving as a backdrop, the tale of two Marines, their dreams and their subsequent reality is both poignant and beautifully observed." - Robert Carlyle
