Organizational meeting:
Forming  Sanctuary Churches in Knoxville
Saturday, March 11, 2:00-4:00 PM at
Church of the Savior
934 N. Weisgarber Rd.
You are invited to a meeting for people of faith and others who want to stand beside our immigrant neighbors in this time of crisis. Please help us spread the word.
The meeting will begin with a summary and analysis of important changes in immigration policy introduced by the Trump administration. The new policies will result in greatly increased damage to immigrant families and communities.
We urge interested individuals and congregational representatives to attend and learn about becoming a sanctuary/welcoming congregation. A small-group session for people of faith will begin the concrete work of setting up a strong network of welcoming congregations in the
Knoxville area.
We expect to be joined by educators and health-care providers who want to make sure their spaces remain welcoming and supportive of immigrant children and families. We will also begin the work of setting up a rapid response team that can be in solidarity with vulnerable immigrant families as the new enforcement regime begins to manifest in Knoxville.
For more information contact David Linge (637-5147), or Jim Bailes (919-8328)
Sponsored by Allies of Knoxville's Immigrant Neighbors (AKIN), Church of the Savior UCC, and the St. James Episcopal Peace Fellowship

Preventing Accidents and Tragedies,
      One Step at a Time

The District Office has been provided a booklet for your church, from Church Mutual,  this booklet addresses several areas of concern and can at first seem very challenging.  However, the sooner you start on a routine inspection program, the more likely your facilities and congregation will become safer and more secure.
The checklist is based on safety studies and actual claims submitted to Church Mutual and can help you eliminate hazards that might lead to costly property losses, personal injuries and legal actions.
You are also encouraged to see the video, Improving Safety at Your Worship Center.  It covers many of the areas in the booklet, and will help you organize your self-inspection tour.
Please visit the website  to see the full range of safety materials.  All of them are available at no charge. Please stop by the District Office to pick up your copy of the "Self-Inspection Safety Checklist".
