Eid Family Picnic a Success!

On October 20, MASKC and the Islamic Center of Kansas (ICK) joined together to hold an Eid family picnic for the Kansas City Muslim community. Masha'Allah, over 500 members of our KC Muslim community came out to the picnic on the exceptionally beautiful day at Black Bob Park! Adults and children enjoyed great weather, the food, ice cones, games, moonwalk, playing volleyball, and each other's company. Jazakum Allahu Khairan to all those who turned out, all those who volunteered, and the sponsors of the event. With the help and blessings of Allah (swt), the picnic was a great success, Alhamdulillah.

MAS Youth Halaqas Restarting This Month

After a break of various lengths, MAS Youth halaqas at ISGKC and ICK will be restarting this month, Insha'Allah. There will be some changes coming to the halaqas, including possibly a different day/time for some of them. Also, Sr. Ikhlas Darkhalil will, Insha'Allah, be the new leader of the girls' halaqa at ISGKC. Please look for an email update as well as our web site or facebook page within the next week or so for the updated schedule and start date, Insha'Allah.
MAS Scouts: Busy, Busy, Busy!

MASKC Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts have been continuously meeting biweekly. Here is a look at just some of what they've been up to, Masha'Allah!

BOY SCOUTS:

From community service to skill-building to tarbiyah to fun, here is just a bit of what the Boy Scouts have done: The Boy Scouts have earned 5 merit badges toward their Eagle Scouts! They have been with many activities include Eid sheep bank, community service at Santa Marta Retirement Home, building circuits, building tents, leadership, fishing, career day, cooking from scratch,  and much more.

GIRL SCOUTS:

The three different Girl Scouts groups (Brownies, Daisies, and Juniors) have been busy with the Hajj Workshop at ICK which brought over 100 young boys and girls to participate in the interactive learning activities. Other activities include gift-wrapping Eid presents for underprivileged children for Project: Smile, practicing the Girl Scouts law through Girl Scouts journeys, movie night at ICK, field trips, hands-on activities, etc.
MAS Youth Dodgeball/Bonfire Night
Warms Up a Cold Night!

On November 27, MAS Youth hosted a mini sport event at ISGKC of dodgeball followed by an outdoor bonfire. Alhamdulillah, the event had a great turnout, with around eighty youth who came out and participated! Participants were separated into teams and competed in the dodgeball tournament in the ISGKC gym. Following the tournament, the bonfire took place outside in the open field, where the youth roasted hotdogs and marshmallows on the open fire and made s'mores! Finally, the night ended with a brief khatirah given by Br. Yousef Jouhari.

Alhamdulillah, the event was a great success, and we had a great turnout! Special thanks to ISGKC for providing the facilities, and especially to Br. Naji Ahmad, president of ISGKC, for helping with the maintenance and safety of the bonfire. We plan to continue to hold this event every Thanksgiving, as well as hold a similar event for sisters as well, Insha'Allah, as it gives our youth a great chance to get together and enjoy the evening with their Muslim brothers and sisters in an Islamic environment, Alhamdulillah.
