Everyone is needed to help make the PG campus shine as school starts this week! Bring tools, rakes, and brooms - pretty drought-tolerant blooms, too, if you can. Some of the jobs:
- classrooms need interior window washing
- clean up and weeding around the buildings and garden
- sanding benches and picnic tables
- raking all the sand boxes
- all the jobs will be posted on the office window!
First Day of School ~ Tuesday, August 18
Kindergarten: 9am-1pm Plenty of parking is available at the back of the school.
Grades 1-2: 8:15-2:35 A parking lot is at the far end of the David Ave. buildings.
Grades 3-8: 8:15-3:15 Please arrive as close to 8:00 to allow time to drop off students. If using
the drop-off circle, please wait to release children until you are at the far end. Patience and common sense are needed at drop off time!

Rose Ceremony: 9:00-9:45
A long-standing tradition of welcoming 1st graders to the grades, 8th graders present 1st graders with a rose (the reverse happens at the last-day assembly). At this morning assembly, new staff will be introduced and teachers pass on gifts to the grade below. Everyone is welcome to attend. Please- no cell phones or cameras allowed (except our yearbook photographer!)
Fall After-School Theater Program is Back!
Michael Blackburn, our music and theater arts teacher, is offering an after school theater experience for 1st-8th graders. Parents must give permission to audition for the show by using the bottom of the flyer that was mailed earlier. Auditions will be held during recess the second week of school. Permission slips need to be turned in to the school office by Friday, August 21st.
Monday and Wednesday rehearsals start August 31st. Performances begin October 23rd and end November 1st!

Back to School Parent Meetings
 The first parent meetings of the year will provide lots of information and attendance is important. Free child care will be available for students in Kindergarten through 8th grade.
Information will be provided about the New School Project at these meetings!
6th-8th Grades - Wednesday, August 19, 5:00pm
Students will join parents in the Performing Arts room for the first part of the meeting and all three teachers will give an orientation to middle school and changes for the 2015-16 school year. Students will play outside under supervision while each teacher meets with the parents.
1st-2nd Grades - Thursday, August 20, 5:00
All four classes will meet together in the for a general session in the Performing Arts room before going to their classrooms for a meeting with their teacher.
3rd-5th Grades - Thursday, August 27th, 5:00
All classes meet in the Performing Arts room before going to their classrooms.

2) 9:45-10:45 - Sweet Elena's Bakery, 465 Olympia Drive, Sand City
Parent Council meets monthly and works closely with the school's Fund Development Group, Faculty Council, Governing Board, Administration and office staff. The first agenda will include a decision about the Joyous Elves festival and plans for May Faire this year. Your input is always welcome!
