Celebrating the property owner

On April 23, MBHP gathered to celebrate the property owners who provide safe, affordable homes for MBHP's program participants. We also took the opportunity to recognize three outstanding property owners for going above and beyond this past year:
  • Steve Bryan extended apartment offers to three Money Follows the Person participants who were transitioning out of care facilities, despite severe credit and rental history issues.
  • A pillar of the Dorchester community, Vu Cuong continues to make his immaculate apartments available to families MBHP works with.
  • When Athony Quiles became aware that his client, a single mother, had significant language barriers, he immediately contacted her program representative. Because of his advocacy on her behalf, MBHP was able to connect her with the services she needed to stay stably housed.

The keynote speaker was Dion Irish, director of the Office of Fair Housing and Equity for the City of Boston. Irish reminded the attendees that April was also Fair Housing Month.

"Fair housing is an issue that is close to my heart," Irish said. "I commend MBHP for the education and advocacy work they do with property owners and tenants to ensure that the residents of Greater Boston have equal access to safe, affordable homes."
