The JATC recently accepted 40 service and 20 fitter apprentice candidates, each of whom passed rigorous testing standards and an interview with the joint training committee. Additionally, the JATC has also established a new mandatory trade-related math course, which each new apprentice must take as a prerequisite to begin the fall term. First year service apprentices begin hands-on training immediately, so that they can learn useful skills as quickly as possible, adding value to your team.
Contractors are playing an instrumental role in bringing in new apprentices. Of the 60 candidates who were accepted, 42 were already working for MCASF contractors as pre-apprentices prior to applying to enter the apprenticeship program.
MCASF asks each contractor to support this extensive effort to bring in new apprentices by contacting April Lowe at LU725 to inquire about hiring an apprentice. Your support - and hiring of new apprentices - drives the future of our industry, both for contractors and union-members alike.
