April is the National Safety Council's Distracted Driving Awareness Month.
What's your company's policy on distracted driving?
Statistics you should know:
  • Each year, over 330,000 accidents caused by texting while driving lead to severe injuries. This means that over 78% of all distracted drivers are distracted because they have been texting while driving. In fact, 1 out of 4 car accidents in the US are caused by texting while driving.
  • Texting and driving is 6 times more likely to result in a vehicle accident than drunk driving*
  • Distracted driving is far more than just texting. In fact, the National Safety Council has compiled more than 30 research studies that show that hands-free phones offer no greater safety benefit than hand-held phones when driving.
  What can your company do?
  1. Increase awareness by using the free resources below.
  2. Develop a company-wide policy against distracted driving.
  3. Implement use of an app on company phones, such as Cellcontrol, that eliminates the temptation to talk, text, email or surf the web while driving.
