New school year begins with updated training programs
Training Director
Phil Rodin notes that the Fall term at ARPEC began on Tuesday, September 6. First year apprentices were welcomed, including 20 pipefitters and 39 service technicians in training, along with last year's students who successfully matriculated. Prior to the start of the school year, an instructor meeting was held & covered many of the new training tools now used by the school, which will be discussed in a future MCASF Update.
Recently,
Bill Clark (Airstron) and
Bob Heslekrants (Local Union 725 / Nagelbush) presented the Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee (JATC) with completely updated curricula for both the Pipefitting and Service programs, which were adopted by the JATC. The newly revised curricula represent a project that spanned over a year, and included considerable help from first year daytime instructors Jason Hebbert & Jay Cerione, and input from each instructor. MCASF commends those who volunteered their time to help ensure that the training center curricula reflect real world training needs, and that each course, as well as each year of apprenticeship, ties seamlessly together to create a comprehensive training program.
