The Residential Air Conditioning program will change as follows:
  • Program rebates will continue for only straight cool/air cool, SEER 16 and 17 systems for single-family detached homes.
  • All other Residential A/C rebates will be discontinued.
  • Rebates for Electronically Commuted Motors (ECMs) and Plenum Seal optional measures will also be discontinued.
In order to qualify for the current residential program rebates, work must be completed by September 30, 2015 -- and the paperwork must be submitted in compliance with the current FPL program standards.

ARPEC NEWS

Do you have training ideas?

Do you have a suggestion for a Journeyman Continuing Education class subject? Please contact members of the JATC Journeymen CEU Subcommitee: Kenny Scottt, Local Union 725 and Chris Figueras, EvoAir

Do you have a suggestion for training to be incorporated into the apprenticeship program curricula? Please contact members of the JATC Curriculum Subcommitee: Bill Clark, Airstron and Bob Heslekrants, Local Union 725 / Nagelbush.

What's new at the training center?
As part of the ongoing improvements at ARPEC, the classroom for electrical training has been updated with new electrical training boards that allow apprentices to wire from a simple single phase circuit to a complex three phase circuit, all done with a 24 volt DC system designed for safety while learning. ARPEC also has a great new training system that enables apprentices to draw on plain paper and add a nine volt battery to test drawing schematics with resistors and diodes. These new improvements were made courtesy of the hourly Education Contribution, as well as significant reimbursements from the International Training Fund. Training Director Phil Rodin encourages Local Union 725 members and MCASF contractor members to stop by for a tour of these new training tools.

ARPEC offers new Journeyman Continuing Education class on Victaulic Grooving
October 27, 2015, 3:00 - 7:00pm

This class qualifies for the Journeyman Continuing Education requirement in the Collective Bargaining Agreement (section 4.03). It is NOT VALID for Broward or Miami-Dade Journeyman License Renewal.
Are you familiar with grooved piping? The groove is made by cold forming or machining a groove into the end of a pipe. A gasket encompassed by the coupling housing is wrapped around the two pipe ends, and the key sections of the coupling housing engage the grooves. The bolts and nuts are tightened with a socket wrench or impact wrench. In the installed state, the coupling housing encases the gasket and engages the grooves around the circumference of the pipe to create a leak-tight seal in a self-restrained pipe joint.
Participants who attend this course will learn more about this efficient piping process, and will learn proper grooving techniques for steel and copper.

Space is limited, therefore preregistration is required. Please click the link below to reserve your spot.
