MCC
Prayer Request - Fires and Flooding

Colorado fires - June 2012
Taken by the Moderator of the Board of Pikes Peak MCC, Colorado Springs, Colorado (USA) a few hours before being evacuated. The fires have since reached the area from where this picture was taken.

Dear MCC Brothers, Sisters, and Friends:

Please keep in your prayers the very dangerous situation now unfolding in Colorado (USA).

As of yesterday, the fires are moving into Colorado Springs. Last night, I spoke to Pastor Wes Mullins, who, with other church members, is helping to evacuate people from their homes, just a half mile from the fire. The record-breaking hot weather and strong winds mean there will be many who lose homes, and lives will be endangered. More than half of all the aerial fire-fighting resources in the U.S. are now trying to fight this fire.

One member of our church in Ft. Collins (Colorado) has lost her home as well.

Please pray for all who are in harm's way at this moment, the fire-fighters, and all volunteers who are working to rescue people.

Also, we have had severe flooding and tornadoes in Florida (USA), and two members of our church in New Port Richey have been flooded out of their homes. More flooding is expected in the next few days in the West and North Central parts of the state.

We will share more information as we have it:

God who has delivered us over and over again, we pray for your mercy and help for those facing fire and flood tonight. Be with those who are frightened or awaiting help, as well as with those trying to reach them. We pray for your Hand to stem the floods and quench the fire and to unite us as a community of faith and action. In Jesus' name, and in Your many names we pray, Amen.
