Dear Friends of MCHC: I am grateful to my fellow board members and the staff of MCHC for making my tenure as chair so fulfilling. We have made some real progress and had some tough conversations along the way. A special thanks goes to Susan McLoughlin, who always took my commitment to moving meetings along quickly and getting done early in stride....

Many thanks to all who helped with this project, and especially to MO Governor Eric Greitens and KS Governor Jeff Colyer for supporting our efforts to protect the lives of mothers and babies with knowledge of the life-saving Safe Haven for Newborns Laws.

Kansas City Healthy Start Initiative Update:
The Kansas City Healthy Start Initiative has completed the process for hiring two Community Health Workers (CHWs). These staff will enroll and provide care coordination and case management services for families in the Kansas City metro area based on a “home visiting” model. This model of service will allow for the CHW to make visits with the families in their personal environment. One CHW is bilingual (Spanish) and both bring a level of experience and commitment that will surely have a positive effect of the families served.

Welcome to the team, Marcela Metcalf and Calisa Robinson!
