Important Reminder: Attendance Policy
Please take note of some important attendance reminders as we head into the last 10 weeks of the school year.

The California Education Code defines excused absences as:
1) Due to illness; 2) Attendance at a medical doctor's appointment; 3) Attendance at a funeral of an immediate family member; 4) Quarantine by county or city health officials; 5) Justifiable reasons such as religious holidays or celebrations, appearances in court, etc. All other reasons for absence are deemed unexcused.

Regular attendance and punctuality are vital to the success of students. In an effort to avoid a pattern leading to excessive absences and/or tardies, the following steps will be taken:

Per semester:
  • 5th absence/tardy - parents are notified in writing (Middle School: lunch detention)
  • 8th absence/tardy - parents are given a second notification in writing (Middle School: after school detention)
  • 10th absence/tardy - conference with Vice Principal, attendance contract required
Please view the MCS Attendance Policy here.

Middle School Dismissal at 12:30PM on May 12th
Friday, May 12th, is a half day of school for middle school but they are not involved in Elementary Grandparents/Special Friend day. As much as possible, early check-outs of middle school students should be avoided. In the event that a middle school student will be checked out by your elementary student's guests, they will need to be checked out at the front office downstairs. If a middle school student will be checked out early, it would be helpful and appreciated to pre-arrange the early dismissal by contacting Robin Walker in the middle school office at [email protected].  When emailing, please include the student name as well as the name of the adult that will be checking the student out.

right-arrow-icon4.gif All middle school students will be dismissed at 12:30 p.m. and will walk through carpool in the field area as usual. Cars will be dismissed at 12:40 p.m.

Friday, May 12th, is also a regular uniform dress day for Middle School Students.

Student Success Center
Did you know the middle school has a Student Success Center? The goal of SSC is to support students in achieving academic goals by providing homework help and strengthening skills in organization, time management, and test preparation. We want to teach students strategies that will help them achieve success in both their academic careers and for the rest of their lives beyond MCS. Students who want to take advantage of this tremendous resource can stop by the SSC located upstairs next to the administration office to meet Mrs. Willis, receive more information, and sign up for the after school help. The SSC is open to students during the following times:
  • Monday: 3:00-4:00
  • Tuesday: 3:00-4:00
  • Thursday-3:00-3:30
To provide the best support, it is imperative students sign up prior to attending. We are excited to provide this great resource to our students and are thrilled to work with students throughout the year!
