We are proud to announce two exciting recent additions to MEDEX's team of experienced and knowledgeable managers. Rita Gomez is MEDEX's new Healthcare Manager, responsible for overseeing Provider Relations and HCO/MPN program enrollment. Deirdre Ward has joined MEDEX's legal support division as our new Lien Defense Unit Manager. Together they add over 40 years of experience in the Workers' Compensation field to MEDEX's bank of industry expertise. 

Rita Gomez, Healthcare Manager

Rita Gomez brings a depth of relevant experience to the Healthcare Manager position, having spent her career to date delivering quality service and organized administration in the workers' compensation field. Most recently, Rita served as the Provider Network Specialist-MPN Compliance Coordinator at a large TPA for nearly 10 years. Her experience in implementing and managing the optimal operation of MPNs, ensuring regulatory compliance, maintaining the integrity of MPN data, and coordinating with all the stakeholders in workers' compensation claims is sure to be an asset as we implement the regulatory changes to MPNs mandated by SB863. Rita also facilitated a program that helped expand provider participation in employers' MPNs. We look forward to executing her insight in that area in order to further maximize the quality care our provider networks can offer.

Prior to her position at the TPA, Rita gained valuable experience providing internal customer service facilitating IT programs at a health plan not-for-profit, and 

in-network development at a national workers' compensation services company.

Deirdre Ward, Lien Defense Unit Manager

Deirdre Ward is one of the most highly regarded Certified Hearing Representatives in the state, having served as the president and vice president of the California Hearing Representative Association and possessing over 27 years of experience in the Workers' Compensation field. Deirdre also brings top caliber experience in lien defense management, having in previous years handled MEDEX lien resolution and lien services marketing on a contract basis.  She also has over 13 years of experience at two Orange County law firms representing employers, TPAs, and insurance companies in fully litigated workers' compensation claims and lien resolution. Her organizational and interpersonal capabilities also shined in her simultaneous roles in marketing, financial control, lien unit management, and office management at those firms along with a heavy caseload.

Part of Deirdre's success as a certified hearing rep stems from her background as a claims examiner. She is known for maintaining excellent working relationships with many in the industry, including the personnel and officials at the local boards, especially in Southern California. We look forward to serving our lien defense clients with Deirdre's industry know-how and attention to quality.
