Rochester International Academy is hosting its seventh annual Thanksgiving celebration for the school’s students, families, and community partners. “An American Celebration – Thanksgiving Dinner” will include a menu of all the traditional favorites, such as turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, cranberries, corn, and many desserts.
The Commission on Jewish/Muslim Understanding donated all of the turkeys for the feast. Led by Karen Elam, the Commission on Jewish/Muslim Understanding is an initiative of the Jewish Federation of Greater Rochester and the Greater Rochester Council of Masajid.
The staff at Rochester International Academy provides many opportunities for their students and families to assist with their acclimation to the American culture. One way the school accomplishes this is by introducing the students and their families to the many different American holidays. Thanksgiving gives the entire school family an opportunity to show how thankful they are for one another.
Superintendent Barbara Deane-Williams expressed thanks to staff, students, and families for their contributions to the community.
Rochester International Academy is designed to facilitate the cultural and academic transition of newly arrived English Language Learners through rigorous language instruction and interdisciplinary learning in collaboration with families and community.
