On Wednesday, April 18, Henry Hudson School No. 28 will hold a celebration to honor the Green Team students and their hard work to win the Keep America Beautiful Recycle Bowl for New York State. Special guests include Monroe County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo and the Rochester Amerks mascot.
An active member of the program since 2007, the School No. 28 Green Team participated in this nationwide competition that involved recycling paper, cardboard, milk cartons, plastic/glass bottles, and cans. The program required teams to support recycling in their school communities and track their efforts from October 16 – November 16, 2017. Approximately 40 students and eight teachers supported their efforts, recycling 2,886 pounds of paper, 49 pounds of containers (plastic/glass bottles, cans), 1,968 pounds of cardboard, and 450 pounds of milk cartons. Students supported the current recycling efforts in place in their building while encouraging peers to recycle during breakfast, in the classroom, and in the lunchroom.
