World of Inquiry’s 8th-grade students have been conducting an expedition titled, “What Makes Me, ME.” Through their coursework, they have learned how genetics, body systems, history, and society all play a role in making them who they are today. Students also conducted a case study from the book,
The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks
, by Rebecca Skloot, which inspired them to complete a service project incorporating the Griffin value of compassion in a meaningful way.
Students have raised money for Roswell Cancer Research and teen and adult programs at 13thirty Cancer Connect, a non-profit organization based in Rochester that provides age-appropriate resources and support to enhance the quality of life for teens and young adults aged 13-30.
On Friday, the entire school will be traveling to St. John Fisher College for its
Going Bald for Bucks
event in the field house. Some students and staff will get their heads shaved and some women’s hair will be cut and donated.
