7th Annual Bob Probert Ride Raises $100,000 and Counting for Cardiac Care in Windsor/Essex

WINDSOR, ON  It was another roaring ride day for the over 1000 bikers that took to the Windsor-Essex roads on Sunday for the Bob Probert Ride in support of local cardiac services.

The Probert Ride, completing is 7th year, is one of the four signature events hosted by Hôtel-Dieu Grace Healthcare (HDGH), Windsor/Essex's only post-acute hospital that sees 25,000 patient visits annually to its cardiac and pulmonary rehab program.

"You go through so many emotions when preparing for an event this large, especially one that is so near and dear to our hearts," explains Dani Probert, widow of former Wings enforcer Bob Probert as well as event chair. "To see everything come together, hear the roar of the the bikes, share memories of Bob and raise much needed funds for cardiac care in our region, always has the entire Probert clan smiling from ear to ear."

Before totaling the proceeds from Sunday's event, 2017 Ride total had already reached $100,000 thanks to various local sponsors and the June 2nd Probert Classic that contributed an impressive $23,000 and was organized by Bob's daughter Tierney. These monies will be added to the $647, 218.24   raised from the last six rides.

"It's really an amazing thing that happens here," added Bill Marra, VP of External Affair and Executive Director of The Changing Lives Together Foundation for HDGH. "Not only does The Bob Probert Ride raise money for cardiac rehab programs for our community, it also brings our community together. This year was my first as a rider in today's event. As I looked around, I couldn't help but feel the support, the passion and unity that continuously make this event a success."

The final total for the 2017 Bob Probert Ride will be announced in the next few weeks and posted on the newly-launched Changing Lives Together (CLT) Foundation website  where those interested are still able to make an online donation to the Ride or CLT Foundation.
