Venice Theatre invites community to meet and learn fro m Tony Award Winner Trent Kowalik, original Billy Elliot
Venice, FL, Oct. 28, 2016 - Venice Theatre is delighted to announce that one of the original actors to play Billy Elliot from the London and Broadway productions of Billy Elliot the Musical, will be in Venice for the area premiere of the popular show which will be playing on Venice Theatre's MainStage Nov. 8 through Dec. 4, 2016.

Trent Kowalik won the 2009 Best Actor Tony Award for his portrayal of Billy on Broadway. He shares the distinction with the two other young actors who played the role.

Kowalik, now 21 and a student at Princeton University, will visit with donors in the theatre's Presidents Club, stay for a talkback after the performances on Nov. 10 and 11, and is teaching two tap dance workshops on Saturday Nov. 12.

Tickets for Billy Elliot the Musical are on sale now at www.venicestage.com or by calling 941-488-1115. Those interested in hearing Kowalik at the post-show talkbacks should purchase tickets for Thursday Nov. 10 or Friday Nov. 11.

Students from 5th grade through adult who are interested in the Nov. 12 dance workshops should call the theatre's Education and Outreach office at 941-486-8679 or visit www.venicestage.com for more details and to register. The beginning level workshop is from 1 to 2 p.m. and the intermediate/advanced workshop is from 2:30-3:30 p.m. Each workshop costs $25.
