Professor Shafique Hosts Data Visualization Workshop
SAB Organized Professional Development Workshop

The Student Advisory Board hosted a data visualization workshop led by Professor Amjed Shafique on April 15th. The professional development workshop introduced attendees to Spotfire, an analytics platform with built-in data wrangling to help users turn data into useful insights. Attendees were invited to attend an informal lunch following the workshop.

Workshops are a great opportunity for alumni to return to campus and offer professional development workshops and new learning opportunities to students/alumni.  If interested in hosting a workshop please contact Stephen Tilley ([email protected]).

STUDENT
Current MEM student, Katie Kollhoff is originally from Beloit, Kansas. She attended the University of Kansas where she double majored in Chemical Engineering and Spanish Language and Literature. Her engineering background brought her to Northwestern where she became Senior Safety Engineer for the Offices for Research Safety. Not one to sit around, Katie is very active in her free time. She loves rock climbing, roasting coffee, cooking, and exploring the various neighborhoods and cuisines Chicago has to offer. Katie and her dog, Laika, are also training to be an urban search and rescue team! We asked her to share a little bit about her interests and her MEM experience. Read more on our blog .

ALUM
Manik Aryapadi graduated from the Northwestern MEM program in 2010. He is originally from Hyderabad, India, but later moved to the United States, where he attended Texas A&M University, earning his Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. Manik's interests are quite varied. He loves volunteering to work with animals, Spanish cuisine at CafĂ© Iberico, and is secretly a talented karaoke singer!
Manik chose the MEM program for its ability to help him hone his business skills while also continuing to develop his technical expertise and build upon his existing four years of engineering experience.  We asked Manik about his MEM experience at Northwestern. Read what he had to say on our blog.
