This month Dubai Electricity and Water Authority signed a Power Purchase Agreement with Abu Dubai Future Energy Company Masdar, for the 800MW third phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park.

Abu Dhabi Distribution Company announced new power and water tariffs, with bills set to rise at the start of next year, and the emirate's Regulation and Supervision Bureau plans to roll out a set of regulations governing small-scale PV energy netting.

In Saudi Arabia a Cabinet statement announced plans to establish a national programme to optimize water and energy consumption, further moves in areas where the government is seeking to cut back subsidies.
 
The Jordanian government invited developers to participate in the next round of solar tenders, which will see a further 200 MW of utility-scale solar PV installed, and the Moroccan Agency for Solar Energy announced plans to launch tenders for the construction of two solar plants with capacity of up to 800MW by the start of 2017.
 
Algeria's state-owned utility in charge of electricity distribution, Sonelgaz Group is developing a program aimed at producing 4,000MW of electricity from renewable energies, while the African Development Bank approved a 900 million euro loan for Algeria to support the government's efforts to improve domestic revenue mobilization and the investment climate as well as boost the efficiency of the energy sector and promote renewable energy.

Arab Future Energy Index 2016 | United Nations Development Program (UNDP)
UNDP  and the Regional Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency launched at COP22 the  2016 Arab Future Energy Index (AFEX) report . AFEX uses over 20 indicators to rank all countries in the MENA region on clean energy goals, with recommendations for scaling-up results.
