The purpose of the Networking Breakfast is to open the door for small businesses to find out about opportunities to do business with large companies. This quarterly event provides valuable information and also offers attendees the chance to promote their products and services to a wide variety of potential clients.

Bakersfield: The Next Five Years

The Bakersfield: The Next Five Years forum is the Chamber's premier Business Development Committee luncheon. Attendees of this annual event represent business leadership in our community.  


This forum features forecasting in three areas of importance and concern to our community including governance, transportation and workforce development. Speakers on these topics will include Allan Zaremberg, California Chamber of Commerce; Ron Brummett, Kern Council of Governments; and Greg Chamberlain, Bakersfield College, respectively.

Cost to attend this luncheon forum is $38 for Bakersfield Chamber Members, $75 for non-members. Reservations are required. Attendees can register online or call (661) 327-4421.

Chamber Seeks Nominations for 2012 Beautiful Bakersfield Awards 

 

The Greater Bakersfield Chamber of Commerce is in the process of seeking nominations for the 2012 Beautiful Bakersfield Awards, which honor businesses, organizations and citizens for their outstanding contributions to the people and image of our community. 

 

Recognizing achievements completed during the 2011 calendar year and honoring the businesses, organizations and people that contribute to our quality of life, nominations are in 14 categories.

Deadline for nomination submissions is Friday, Jan. 20, 2012. All nominations submitted by the deadline will be considered by the committee, which reserves the right to determine final category placement and limit the number of nominations per category. Self-nominations are accepted.

Names of award recipients will be announced at the Beautiful Bakersfield Awards Banquet, broadcast on KGET TV-17 on June 2, 2012.

Jim and Brenda Lencioni of Prepaid Legal Services are helping the Jeremy Staat Foundation by hosting a Small Business Breakfast Club event on Nov. 17 from 7:15 - 8:45 a.m. at the Contractors State License Schools, 2408 Brundage Lane. Jeremy Staat is a retired NFL player, United States Marine and Iraq War Veteran. His mission is to bring living history to the classroom by offering life experiences to our youth through a Veteran Speaking Board. Cost is $10 per person and all proceeds benefit the Jeremy Staat Foundation. For more information or to RSVP, call (661) 496-1439.

Kern County Superintendent of Schools will host national consultant Wayne Sakamoto in room US 1, University Square, 2000 K Street from 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. on Nov. 18 as he presents a workshop open to the public called Solutions to Bullying. Sakamoto, from the Murrieta Valley Unified School District in Riverside County, is a leading national expert on school violence prevention. His workshop, targeted primarily to local educators and law enforcement, will focus on research-based solutions to reduce bullying on school campuses. Registration fee is $35, which includes continental breakfast and materials. The Buena Vista Museum of Natural History cordially invites you, your family and friends to support the museum by attending their Annual Gala on Nov. 19 from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. at the museum, 2018 Chester Ave. The evening will include entertainment, silent auction, opportunity drawing, hors d'oeuvres, fine wines and much more. Continuing its series for infant and pre-school child care providers, Community Connection for Child Care (CCCC) presents a free Learning Environments Workshop titled Math on Nov. 30 from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. in Room A, CCCC, 2000 24th Street in Bakersfield. Registration which begins Nov. 16 is required and can be made by calling (661) 861-5330. Trainer for the session will be early childhood education teacher Kimberly Dominguez from the Kern County Superintendent of Schools. The goal of each of the workshops is to show participants how a well-planned environment can help children discover and develop their senses, imagination, problem solving skills and more. Jesus Shack asks you to help make Christmas brighter for a child in need this year. They are collecting new, unwrapped toys for boys and girls ages 1-16. Donations may be dropped off at Barber Honda, Jesus Shack or any Carl's Jr. by Dec. 14. The event will take place on Dec. 17 at Barber Honda in the Bakersfield Auto Mall from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and is by invitation only.
