Ferry News and Info
 
The ferries are still operating between Bayfield and Madeline Island.  The Madeline Island Ferry Line (MIFL) has no shutdown prediction at this time.  Watch for important updates and information on the MIFL Website and Facebook page regarding trip cancellations due to weather and ice conditions. If you are planning a trip to the Island, it is advisable to check for alerts about possible trip cancellations before you arrive and while you are staying on the Island.
 
Please note: The ice road is not open to drive. 
Transportation to and from island is currently being done by ferry.
 
For more information call MIFL at 715-747-2051. The MIFL office is open Monday thru Friday, 8am to 4:30pm.

 Milk & Cookies Concert Northland College Winds: film scores for kids, the movie magic in movie music.

Short attention spans and wanderers delight! Tunes from "Disney at the Movies," "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End," "Harry Potter Symphonic Suite," "Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace." Crayons and paper provided. Instrument demonstrations beforehand; supervised onstage visitors allowed afterwards. Milk and cookies will be served.

February 17 at 7 p.m. at Northland College Sigurd Olson Environmental Institute. The Cuban & Chequamegon Food Security Movement, Theron O'Connor and Demaris Brinton, who recently traveled to Cuba

The two owners of Apostle Islands Booksellers will talk on food movements in Cuba and the Chequamegon Bay region and how these two regions are looking to local, sustainable, and artisanal food strategies to achieve food security, if not food sovereignty. Part of the SOEI Stewardship Speakers Series, this event is free and open to the public.

Bayfield Regional Regency
Native Plant Pre-Sale
  
The Bayfield Regional Conservancy native plant pre-sale is accepting orders now thru Feb. 27.
  
All plants are  grown by BRC member Becky Brown at her Wildflower Woods greenhouse outside of Washburn and tended by BRC volunteers. All seeds are collected locally. Proceeds benefit BRC's conservation efforts in Northwestern Wisconsin.

Plant pickup:  All pre-orders will be available for pickup on the day of the annual pant sale on June 4, 2016 at Northland College in Ashland.

New this year: Order and pay on-line!!  Mail order forms are available on the BRC website.  10% discount on orders over $500.

Don't need plants?  Consider buying and donating them to BRC for their ongoing trail restoration projects.

Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation

"If you are a non-profit organization providing services in the arts, education, environment, human services or economic development in the areas of Washburn, Ashland, Bad River, Madeline Island, Bayfield or Red Cliff you may qualify for a grant.
