The History of one airplane and the two men who created it.

The development of this extremely advanced airplane with many novel features was started in 1937, for which Ettore Bugatti had hired the Belgian Louis de Monge as chief engineer. The first version of the airplane was planned as a speed-record airplane, a military version was to follow later. Tragically the Bugatti 100P airplane never flew, the Germans invaded Paris where it was being built before it was 100% ready. The airplane surprisingly survived the war, and still exists in the EAA museum in Oshkosh, USA. Both engines exist, and were built into Bugatti race-cars. Currently a flying replica is being constructed in the USA, built in such a way, that it will be aerodynamically the same as the original.
This book for the first time describes the complete history of this wonderfully beautiful streamlined airplane, as well as all of it's novel systems. Also, the histories of both the plane's creators are followed, from the early years of aviation.

Ronnie Peterson shadows team leader Mario Andretti in their dominant 'Black Beauty' Lotus 79s. Andretti won the race for John Player Team Lotus in chassis 79/4 with Peterson just 0.3 seconds adrift at the flag in 79/2; an emphatic victory and the last 1-2 for Team Lotus. Ronnie was a loyal team mate, dutifully supporting number one driver Mario to his World Championship title and helping to secure the Constructors' title with his runner-up spot. The popular Swedish driver won two 1978 Grands Prix to Andretti's six and this race proved to be Andretti's last F1 victory. Tragically it was Peterson's last finish, as disaster struck at the start of the next race, at Monza. The original painting was commissioned by Clive Chapman, Classic Team Lotus and measured 5 feet wide!

1965 was a very good year for the Ford Motor Company's 'Total Performance' racing program. Jim Clark won the Indianapolis 500 with the Ford DOHC Indy Engine, Ken Miles and Lloyd Ruby scored the first victory for the Ford GT40 in the 2000 km Daytona Continental, Ford powered Cobras snatched the World Manufacturers Championship from Ferrari and in stock car racing, the 1965 Ford Galaxie dominated the scene. in January, Dan Gurney won his 3rd straight Motor Trend 500 at Riverside followed by Fred Lorenzen's long-overdue victory in the 1965 Daytona 500 a few weeks later. These two historic stock cars are now available in 1/24 scale for just $79.95 each. A limited number of models have been hand signed by these two racing legends for $109.95. As many of you are aware, Fred Lorenzen has been confined to an assisted living facility for many years and the brightest part of his life is recalling his exploits as NASCAR's 'Golden Boy'. Gurney dominated the Riverside 500, winning the race 5 times in 6 years, including 4 in a row from 1963 thru 1966.

On a related subject, there's no word from Minichamps on the release date for their recently offered 1976 World Champion James Hunt McLaren M23s in 1/18 and 1/43 scale. I don't expect Christmas delivery, but we are taking orders for when they get around to producing them.
