Who is taking care of your children's education?

We are very honoured to introduce you to MJDS's stellar faculty and our lovely Shinshinim.

With this we also bring to you the words of astronaut Christa MacAuliffe (1948-1986)

I touch the future, I teach!

Danielle Weisberg

Upper Elementary and Middle School French Teacher

and

Maria Elena Cudritescu

Casa and Lower Elementary French Teacher

French Teachers: Maria Elena and Danielle

My name is Danielle and I have been teaching for the last 15 years. I am originally from Belgium and did not know the Montessori system before moving to Canada nine years ago. And let me tell you, it's amazing!

It is not only the students who benefit from MJDS. As a teacher, I also learn and develop myself everyday by reading, exchanging ideas with other people and especially with my own students. I attend conferences, research new material and constantly use my creativity to create interesting, interactive and fun classes.

Coming to school is a real pleasure and I enjoy every opportunity to participate and enrich the school with the other teachers. I am part of an amazing, clever, fun and kind team and I feel very privileged to work with our fantastic principal. I love the children of the school and really appreciate their parents.  You will very often see me with my camera taking pictures of your children. In my free time I like to read, hike and bike, ski, travel, cook, watch movies, discover the city, visit exhibitions and spend time with my family. I have a lovely husband and two boys. Greg is 23, has finished commerce at McGill and is in currently in San Francisco. Elliot is 21 and is attending his 4th year of engineering at McGill.

My name is Maria Elena and I have a MD in French Language and Literature at the University of Bucharest, Romania. I am the French Teacher for Casa and Lower Elementary and this is my 11th year at MJDS. French Language has always been and will remain my passion and my goal, as a teacher, is to pass on to my students the same passion. I am proud and happy to be part of an amazing team at MJDS.

Rosie Prince

Casa and Lower Elementary Language Specialist

Rosie Prince

My name is Rosie and I am an Early Childhood Educator, specializing in working with children with learning challenges. I have been at MJDS for six years supporting children in their reading development, spelling and hand writing.

Dina Prager

Casa and Lower Elementary P.E. Instructor and After School Supervisor

Dina Prager

My name is Dina, and after eight years it feels very natural to be returning to the warm nest of MJDS as the Physical Education Instructor and After School Supervisor.  I love the community and my co-staff.

Although there are new challenges and experiences each year, it is rewarding to see my efforts reflected in the children I work with.  I am fortunate to have developed special relationships with the parents as well as students and I hope to continue to create these bonds with both new and returning parents.

As the theme of the year is Sports & Health, I am especially looking forward to the many fun and fulfilling activities that we have developed for this year, and excited to see what both the students and staff receive from these experiences.

Gustavo Melo

After School Supervisor

Gustavo Melo
I am Gustavo and my passions are photography, design, art and teaching. My background is in advertising, marketing and university teaching totaling 10 years of direct work experience in Brazil. Since 2007, I have been teaching at Cearense Faculty (FaC) and at State University of Rio Grande do Norte (UERN) that are reputable educational Institutions in my country.

After a rewarding academic career, I recently moved to Toronto, to accompany my wife in her PhD scholarship at University of Toronto. Since I arrived here, I have spent my time attending English classes, volunteering at non-profit companies, studying and working to experience and understand the Canadian culture and work environment.

However, up to now the best moment to me has been at MJDS with the kids. They are adorable and every day I learn a lot with them! It has been a grateful experience. Finally, I would like say that I am doing my best to contribute to the School through my knowledge and positive attitude.

Diane James

Music Teacher

Diane James

Diane has been a wonderful addition to our MJDS family this year. You can tell when Diane is in the building because you can hear the music flowing from different areas of the school as she works with each of the classes. The Casa children are having so much fun combining music and movement and being introduced to musical instruments such as tambourines, finger bells, rhythm sticks and of course the metallophones. The Elementary and Middle School students are being introduced to instrumental music and music theory.
