It is those crossroads, those intersections, that are at the center of Griffithʼs latest work.
Twenty albums now, and only one like this, but itʼs funny what happens with songs.
Sometimes making the best is doing the worst to yourself, but sometimes making the best is singing your truth, even if it makes your heart pound. "Itʼs emotional for me, and itʼs personal, and it makes my heart pound, thinking Iʼm going to be totally exposed here," says Nanci Griffith, the Grammy-winning singer-songwriter and Americana Music Association Lifetime Achievement Award winner. Intersection is not an album of resolution or closure; itʼs an album about difficulties, about anger, about things that slip away and things that explode.

In one extraordinary new work, lovers of Baroque opera have it all: the world's best singers, glorious music of the Baroque masters, and a story drawn from Shakespeare. In The Enchanted Island, the lovers from Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream are shipwrecked on his other-worldly island of The Tempest. Inspired by the musical pastiches and masques of the 18th century, the work showcases arias and ensembles by Handel, Vivaldi, Rameau, and others, and a new libretto by Jeremy Sams.

Based on Russian author Boris Paternak's epic 1956 novel, the film tells the life story of Yuri Zhivago, a poet and physician. The scope of the story is vast and intense, as Zhivago, his wife and children, and the woman he really loves, Lara, experience world-shattering events of World War I and the Russian Revolution. As with the novel itself, the film was banned in the Soviet Union. It was not shown in Russia until 1994.
Tickets are $6 adult/$4 youth.
For an additional $3 contribution when buying your movie ticket at the box office, online at www.theparamount.net, or before and during intermission on the night of the screening, you will be entered in a drawing for an original vintage poster from the 1980 re-release! The recipient will be announced at the end of intermission before the start of the second half of the movie.
