The Elementary/Middle School Orientations will take place on Friday, August 16th. 

  • Ms. Anita Bender (1st/2nd grades) | 11:00 a.m - 12:00 p.m.
  • Mr. Richard Aslanian (2nd/3rd grades) | 1:00 - 2:00 p.m.
  • Ms. Tina Miller (4th/5th grades) | 12:00 - 12:30 p.m.
  • Ms. Sherilyn Farris (6th/7th/8th grades) | 1:00 - 2:00 p.m.

Nathan Levy 
We are excited to announce we will have a featured speaker coming to Millhopper Montessori School on Thursday, August 15th!


Nathan Levy (the author of Stories with Holes, Whose Clues?, and Nathan Levy's 100 Intriguing Questions) is a gifted educator. In his thirty five years as a teacher and principal, Nathan worked directly with children, teachers and parents. He has developed unique teaching strategies that encourage the love of learning. Mr. Levy has mentored more than thirty current principals and superintendents, as well as helped to train thousands of teachers and parents in better ways to help children learn. For the past thirty years Nathan's workshops have been among the most popular at state and national education conferences. When hired to conduct school based and district workshops Mr. Levy's ideas have helped raise pupil achievement and bring back enthusiasm to the educational staff. A wide variety of topics and material are available for school districts, parent and business groups from Nathan Levy Books LLC Nathan has done workshops in the areas of Literacy, Social Studies, Math, Critical Thinking, Gifted, Special Education, and Classroom Management. All presentations are informative, thought provoking, highly interactive and fun.

MMS Athletics

MMS will once again be participating in the Oak Hall Community Sports League. Organized team sports will be offered for children in grades Kindergarten through 5th grade.  Our participation in the league has more than doubled in the last five years and we hope to see the growth continue!


Please note Flag Football will be the first sport of the year (soccer has been moved to the spring). 
The season will run from September 9 - November 16th.  The Registration deadline is Friday, August 23rd!

Spotlight Kids Informational Meeting

If you are interested in auditioning for a spot as a Spotlight Kids Junior member offered to third - fifth graders, or an award winning Spotlight KidsThespian offered to sixth - eighth graders, please attend the informational meeting on Wednesday, August 21 at 3:30pm in the Media Center.


Auditions will take place on Friday, August 30th at 3:30 p.m.

After School Studios


We offer a variety of After School Studio's throughout the school year.  We are finalizing the offerings and will publish them in the weekly email ppdate that will go out next Thursday.  Please contact the front office with any questions.


Drive-Through Service Reminders:


If you are using the Safety Patrol drive-through service please remember to:

  • Stay in your vehicle.  Your child will be unloaded/loaded for you.
  • Please have your NEW 2013-2014 car tag hanging from your rear view mirror. Patrols must be able to see your current tag.  Your number is different this year.
  • See the front office if you need a current tag.
  • Be extremely careful in the parking lot and drive-through area.
  • For safety, please NO CELL PHONES!
  • Preschool and Kindergarten children must be buckled into car seats/booster seat bases. 
  • The fifth graders are learning the routine and may make a few mistakes in the first few weeks. Please be patient. They have a lot to learn, and our first priority is always safety. Please be aware and conscientious drivers.

In order to use the drive through service you MUST have a Car Tag ID.  If you would like to use this service please fill out the form online and return it to the front office.


Drive-through times are:      8:40 am - 9:05 am 

                                            2:40 pm - 3:05 pm

Preschool/Kindergarten students are released at 2:40 PM

Elementary students are released at 3:00 PM

Fall Festival

Mark Your Calendar!

The Fall Festival will be held at MMS on Thursday, October 24th! Be on the lookout for volunteer opportunities and lots of fun!

Flu Mist
The flu mist will be administered at MMS by the Alachua County Health Department on Thursday, September 19th.  Please fill out the form being sent home with your child even if you don't want your child to participate.

Life Touch




Our Fall Picture Day will be Friday, September 6th.  All photos will be taken in the Big Room.  Be sure to keep an eye out for a class picture order form to come home with your child.  The order forms for individual pictures will be sent home when the pictures arrive.  At that point you may choose to purchase the photos or return them.  For more information visit the LifeTouch website by clicking here.

With the start of the new school year it is important that all parents (new and returning) read over the Parent Handbook online.  Once you have read it please print, sign and return the 2013-2014 Parent Handbook Sign off Sheet and it will be stored in your child(ren)'s file.
