Aug. 3, 1921: The first cropdusting by aircraft is carried out by John MacReady, who dusts a field near Troy, Ohio, with lead arsenate in an effort to kill caterpillars. Aug. 3, 2006: Ken Weiss, Usha Lee McFarling and Rick Loomis conclude their five-part multimedia series " Altered Oceans" for the Los Angeles Times. Their reporting and images, which show the increasing toxic threat to the oceans, wins a 2007 Pulitzer Prize. |
