2014 MORR Sportsman Banquet Recap

 

Milwaukee, Wisc. (January 16, 2015) - The MORR Sportsman Banquet celebrating all the class champions and top performers of the 2014 MORR Sportsman short-course race season was the largest turnout in the past four years. Over three hundred racers, team members, enthusiasts, and supporters of short-course off-road racing enjoyed an evening of celebration at the Event Center at Potawatomi Hotel and Casino in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

 

The night of food and drink celebrated Class Champions, World Champions, and the fourth edition of MORR Special Awards.

 

All the top performers were recognized by the evening's Master of Ceremonies, Mike Vanden Heuvel, as each class champion was given the opportunity come to the podium and thank their supporters.

 

Thanks to the contributions from every race entry, both race tracks, Jackson Motorsports Group and MORR, the total championship payout totaled $18,000.

 

2015 MORR Class Champions

Classix: Dale Chestnut, Stock Truck: Cory Marquardt, Light Buggy: Greg Stingle,  

1600 Buggy: Mark Steinhardt, Formula 4x4: Dave Miah,  

Super Stock Truck: Mitch Dorr, Super Truck: Jerry Edgerton,  

Limited 4: Dan Baudoux, and Short Course Kart: Carter Vanden Heuvel.

The following 2015 World Champions were presented with their one of a kind World Championship rings.

Short-Course Kart: Carter Vanden Heuvel, Limited 4: Dan Baudoux,  

Classix: Dale Chestnut, Super Buggy: Kevin McCullough, Super Truck: Tim Nelson, Super Stock Truck: Danny Beauchamp, Stock Truck: Diesel Shanak,  

Formula 4x4: Dave Miah, 1600 Buggy: Brad Erickson, Light Buggy: Jeff Virnig,  

PRO-4: Kyle LeDuc, PRO-2: Chad Hord, and PRO-Light: CJ Greaves.

 

Along with their checks, each class champion received a personalized class champion jacket from Allstar Performance and a class champion sweatshirt from Neverlift Apparel.  

 

Edelbrock also awarded each second and fifth place racer in each of the class championship standings a one hundred dollar product certificate redeemable through Allstar Performance.  

 

Impact Racing/Mastercraft Safety awarded the Super Buggy and Stock Truck Champions with new driving suits and helmets.

 

Five-Star Bodies also awarded fifty-dollar product certificates to six of the Short-Course Kart racers.

 

All attending MORR racers voted for the following awards:

Driver of the Year - Carter Vanden Heuvel

Team of the Year - T & T Racing

Hard Charger Award - Nick Byng

Most Improved Driver - Matt Siorek

Best Win - Gatlin Keehner

Hard Luck Award - Rodney Van Eperen & Don Demeny

Rookie of the Year - Joey Maciocek

 

There were two awards that are given by the MORR Board:

MORR Person of the Year - Cliff Flannery

Farmer John Award - Richard Ault

Special thanks goes to the South Point Casino in Las Vegas for supporting the Farmer John Award.

 

Nine year-old Carter Vanden Heuvel, the Short-Course Kart Champion, gave the best speech of the night. If his time on the stage was any indication of the future of our sport, Sportsman off-road racing in the Upper Midwest will be in good hands. Carter became the fifth member of his family to bring home a World Championship ring. 

 

Cliff Flannery addressed the crowd to talk about the added support that both Crandon International Off-Road Raceway and Bark River International Off-Road Raceway will have in the 2015 Sportsman Off-Road Series. www.sportsmanoffroadseries.com / www.facebook.com/SportsmanOffRoadSeries  

 

Then once the ceremonies ended, and the MORR Fundraiser was complete, the party raged on until the ready hours of the morning.
